Buffalo Butte Ranch, a 6,000-acre family farm in South Dakota’s Golden Triangle near Gregory, is adding pheasant guides for the current season, which the ranch runs from September through the end of December. Guides work 5 to 7 days a week leading clients on private ground, giving safety briefings, and handling their own flushing or pointing dogs on hunts that last anywhere from a few hours to most of the day. You need solid shotgun and field-safety experience, the fitness to walk all day, and flexibility for evening, weekend and holiday shifts; prior guiding helps but is not required. New hires start with a one-week trial so the ranch can see how you and your dogs work with clients. Guides stay in newly built guide quarters and get all meals at the lodge; pay is based on qualifications plus tips. Email your qualifications to Marshall or Dillon Springer at info@buffalobutte.com.
