Alaska fly-out lodges, Montana and Idaho fishing lodges, and Colorado and Wyoming hunting lodges post the most.
More About Lodge Staff Jobs
Most lodges run June through September and hire from December through March. Pay is commonly $2,500 to $3,500 per month for staff and $4,000 to $6,000 per month for managers and chefs, with housing, meals and often airfare to remote locations. End-of-season bonuses of $500 to $2,000 for staff who complete the season are common.
No experience is required for most staff positions. Managers need previous lodge or hospitality management experience.
Lodge positions are a common first Alaska job because they need no experience and come with everything: a staff cabin, three meals, and a flight in and out. Days are long, usually 10 to 12 hours, six days a week, from the first guest arrival in June through the last departure in September. Staff who finish the season are often invited back at a higher wage, and many move into guiding, dock management or kitchen lead roles in their second year. Lodges also hire winter caretakers from among summer staff.
