Borealis Basecamp, a northern lights resort with glass-roofed igloos outside Fairbanks, is hiring full-time seasonal guides to lead snowmobile and UTV tours on its own trails, along the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and in the White Mountains National Recreation Area. Guides give safety briefings, read terrain and weather, recover stuck machines, give wilderness first aid if needed, help groom and maintain trails, manage fuel and gear, and narrate the area’s wildlife and history; everyone also covers the adventure desk about one day a week. You need hands-on snowmachine or UTV experience, the ability to earn a Wilderness First Responder card (the company offers training) and the toughness to work long hours in Arctic cold. The season listed runs August 2 to April 12. Pay is $20 an hour plus a $1.50-per-hour bonus for finishing the season, and on-site shared housing costs $10.50 a day, including staff-prepared lunch and dinner and a self-serve breakfast. Apply through Borealis Basecamp’s CareerPlug page at the link.
