Ranch Department – Summer Seasonal Staff

Philmont is a 140,171-acre Scouting America ranch in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico that hires more than a thousand seasonal staff each summer, including its Ranch Department, which runs the horse and livestock operation and the horseback riding program. Most summer positions run May 23 to August 11, and preference goes to applicants who can commit to the full season. Hiring happens on a rolling basis with the bulk of interviews from September through April, and the ranch states there is no application deadline, so applications for the coming summer are open now. Starting base salary is $1,485 a month plus room and board, with a uniform voucher toward basic uniform needs. More than thirty staffed backcountry camps across the property run programmes from horseback riding to living history.
