Lead multi-day backcountry and mountaineering courses for youth and adult students out of the Leadville base for the 2027 season, which runs from early May into August or September, with some fall work possible. You need roughly 30 days of overnight wilderness travel, map and compass skills, experience with young people and a driver’s license held more than three years. Wilderness First Responder is needed for backcountry courses, and mountaineering courses call for a Single Pitch Instructor credential or substantial climbing background. Paid training is $80 a day, then $105 a day. Onsite housing is provided, with meals in the field and food on base on work days. Apply on the posting with a resume and technical experience log; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
