The Wyoming State Forestry Division is hiring a permanent specialist in Casper to run its exclusive-use helitack program. You would manage helibases and the crew, administer the helicopter contract, and direct initial attack, large fire support and project work on state trust land. The minimum is a bachelor’s degree, typically in forestry, plus up to two years of experience, or three to five years of progressive experience without the degree, along with a valid driver’s license. Candidates must pass the arduous pack test, and a current Red Card as a helicopter manager or helibase manager, or trainee status in either, is preferred. Pay is $32.33 an hour with state benefits. Apply through the State of Wyoming careers portal; the posting is open until filled.
