Washington DNR’s Northeast Region is hiring 14 Fuels Crew Members for the newly created River City Fuels Crew in the Arcadia District, based out of Deer Park north of Spokane. It is a two-part job. During the non-fire months you work on a 22-person hazardous fuels reduction crew under a Forest Health Engine Captain, treating priority project sites across Spokane, Pend Oreille, Stevens and Lincoln counties, much of it in the wildland-urban interface around Spokane. During fire season you crew a Type 5 brush engine on initial attack; the district runs suppression on roughly 300 fire starts a year and works constantly with local fire districts and state and federal partners. The project period runs from about October 2026 through March 2029. This is a full-time represented project position, and DNR may make a hiring decision any time after October 5.
