Maintenance Worker Leader (Trails) – Pacific West

Pacific West parks are hiring seasonal trail crew leaders at Sequoia and Kings Canyon, Point Reyes, Haleakala, Crater Lake, Mount Rainier and Lake Roosevelt. Leaders run the daily work of up to fifteen employees, volunteers and youth crews on dry-laid rock walls, accessible trail grading, bridges and water bars, plus clearing downed timber, removing snow and handling records. Expect hikes of up to 20 miles a day at 2,000 to 10,000 feet. You need a valid driver’s license and must rate well on working without close supervision. Crews are expected to start between March and May, on a 1,039-hour appointment or up to 1,560 hours at some parks. Pay is $26.30 to $42.88 an hour depending on location; the posting says government housing may be available but is not guaranteed, and that occupancy of quarters is required.
