OARS has opened hiring for its 2027 river season and is taking applications from both experienced guides and people who have never guided before. Guides work out of regional outposts in California, Utah (Moab and Vernal/Dinosaur), Arizona (Grand Canyon), Oregon (Grants Pass) and Idaho (Lewiston), and each regional team does its own hiring. Applicants need to be 18 or older (21 for some bases) with current CPR plus WFA or WFR; swiftwater rescue and a CDL are preferred, and the Grand Canyon crew wants prior canyon trips. The company advertises competitive pay, a 401(k) match, PTO and a staff gear package, but does not publish a wage rate or housing terms on the page. Driver, warehouse and base-operations roles are also open.
| Pay | $135+/day one-day trips; $170–$320/day multi-day trips + gratuities |
