Hiking Big Bend, an outfitter on Highway 118 in Terlingua, hires river guides for Rio Grande trips along with hiking and backpacking guides and shuttle drivers. Its work windows follow the desert season: a full season from September 1 to May 31, a fall season through about January 10, or a spring season from February 10 to the end of May. Guides must hold Wilderness Advanced First Aid or Wilderness First Responder. Housing with electric hookups is available at the outpost for $25 a week and includes access to a guide kitchen, bathroom and WiFi.
