Squad boss opening with DNR’s Southeast Region handcrew program, duty stationed at East Wenatchee in Douglas County. The role provides fireline leadership for a twenty-person initial attack handcrew responding to wildland and wildland-urban interface fires anywhere in the district, region or state, plus interagency assignments. Qualified incumbents may serve as incident commander type 4 or 5, task force leader or single resource boss. Non-fire season work covers prescribed burn preparation and implementation, community wildfire preparedness outreach, home ignition zone assessments, forest health thinning, slash abatement, tree marking and timber sale layout support. Expect long and irregular hours including weekends and holidays, and physically demanding field work. Permanent full-time represented position; relocation help may be considered and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
