Montana FWP is hiring a Biologist 1 – Technician 5 for its Nongame Wildlife Program in Region 7, based in Miles City. The technician leads and supports surveys, monitoring and research on birds, bats, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians, then enters data and helps with season-end reports over the winter. It is field-based, with about 75 percent travel and long stretches away from home in spring and summer. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus documented wildlife survey work and comfort with Excel and ArcGIS tools. The position is not base funded, so funding is requested each biennium. Pay is $27.95 an hour.
