Cactus Feeders, an employee-owned cattle feeding company based in Amarillo, is hiring pen riders for its three growyards around Burlington in eastern Colorado, which together hold about 25,000 head. Pen riders check cattle daily on horseback and on foot, pull sick or injured animals, give treatments under animal health protocols, help sort, process and ship cattle, and report problems with fences, gates and water. You must be able to ride and provide horses suited to feedyard work, have a valid driver’s license and handle all weather; low-stress cattle handling knowledge is highly preferred. The job is full-time with rotating weekends and pays $15.16 to $20 per hour depending on experience, with health, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) and a company-paid ESOP retirement. Apply online through the Cactus Feeders careers site; the posting went up in September 2026.
