Lead TNC South Carolina’s seasonal mountain burn crew, supervising a small team of traveling burn technicians who prep and carry out prescribed fire on TNC, state park, Forestry Commission and SC DNR lands, mostly in the upstate mountains with some Midlands and coastal work. Expect overnight trips, weather-driven schedules and occasional weekend days. The role requires FFT1 (squad boss) qualification with a completed task book, prior supervisory experience, the arduous pack test and comfort running Type 6 engines, UTVs, saws and drip torches. The season runs January 6 to May 28, 2027 (end date negotiable), pays $25–$27 an hour, and includes housing in Greenville. Apply through TNC by September 25, 2026.
