One of three technicians on TNC South Carolina’s mountain burn crew, carrying out prescribed fire on TNC and partner lands such as state parks, SC Forestry Commission and SC DNR ground. Most burning happens in the upstate’s oak-hickory mountain forests, with some work in the Midlands and coastal pine flatwoods, occasional week-long trips, and a weather-driven schedule that can include weekends. Applicants must already be FFT2 qualified, pass the arduous pack test, supply 8-inch leather boots and hold a valid driver’s license. The season runs January 11 to May 28, 2027 (end date negotiable), pays $20–$22 an hour, and comes with housing in Greenville. Apply online through TNC by September 25, 2026.
