The Division of Forestry and Fire Protection is hiring an assistant dispatch center manager at its consolidated Palmer center. The coordinator works as lead dispatcher, directing the movement of crews, aircraft, engines, equipment and supplies for wildland fire suppression and all-hazard incidents. Coverage spans the Mat-Su Valley plus the Kenai, Kodiak, Copper River and Southwest fire management areas, so the role handles heavy initial attack traffic through Alaska’s fire season and coordinates resource ordering with cooperating agencies. Duties include tracking incident information, supporting operational leadership and mentoring other dispatchers. This is the only vacancy currently advertised on the division’s own recruitment page. The posting states an hourly wage and closes at five in the afternoon Alaska time.
