The Intermountain Region has 2027 crew openings across southern Idaho, Nevada, Utah and western Wyoming, with stations listed in Boise, Pocatello, McCall, Ketchum, Elko, Ogden, Moab and Jackson, among others. You would serve on an engine, hotshot, helitack or hand crew, building line, extinguishing fire and patrolling for sparks, and may help with other forest work between fires. Six months of general experience gets you in, and no degree or certification is listed; related education, fire training or high school fire training can substitute. All hires must pass the arduous pack test, meet federal firefighter medical standards and pass a background check and drug test. Expect a start between April 18 and June 13, 2027 on a temporary appointment of up to 6 months or a year.
