A permanent full-time crew leadership post with the California Conservation Corps, working out of the Magalia Center in Butte County. Under a Conservation Supervisor, the Conservationist I supervises, trains and evaluates corpsmembers, teaches, directs and counsels them, looks after the care, maintenance and security of state equipment and property, and handles recordkeeping and personnel administration. The posting classifies the physical demands as arduous: lifting fifty pounds or more, often combined with pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, carrying, kneeling, twisting and overhead reaching, plus daily active outdoor work, extended standing and walking, irregular surfaces and hiking difficult terrain. Extended hours and remote-area assignments may be required, including duty as a crew supervisor on a Type I fire crew. The position is not telework eligible.
