Wildlife Technician

A contract full-time Wildlife Technician job with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department in Pinedale, in the Wind River and Wyoming Range country of western Wyoming. You assist regional staff across the full range of field wildlife work: big game and game bird surveys including aerial counts, vegetation and habitat monitoring on long-term plots, depredation control and damage claim investigations involving crops and livestock, resolving wildlife conflicts with homeowners in both town and rural settings, and collecting disease samples from harvested animals for surveillance programs. Elk feedground operations are part of the job, as is contacting hunters in the field and at check stations and recording harvest data. Expect irregular day and night hours, four-wheel-drive trucks and trailers, ATVs and snow machines, lifting 50 pounds, and outdoor work in any weather. You will also help the office with license sales and public questions.
