The Bureau of Land Management is hiring permanent range technicians, one each at Alturas, Susanville and Ukiah, California; Dolores and Meeker, Colorado; Billings, Montana; and Vale, Oregon. The job supports grazing programs: helping with allotment plans, leases and permits, checking allotments for compliance, identifying plants, maintaining range improvements and collecting field data for reports and maps. GS-5 takes a year of related experience such as livestock records, map reading or fence and water inspection, or a related bachelor’s degree or 24 listed semester hours. Field days mean plenty of walking, riding, four-wheel driving and heat, cold, snakes and rough ground, and a valid driver’s license is required. Pay is $40,736 to $65,599 a year depending on grade, with promotion potential to GS-7. Housing is not stated and relocation is not reimbursed, though an incentive may be offered case by case. Apply on USAJOBS by 11/09/2026.
