Surimi and Roe Technician – 2027 A Season

Westward Seafoods is hiring surimi and roe technicians for its Unalaska shore plants for the 2027 pollock A season, January 4 through April 30. Technicians set up and fine-tune the machines that cut fish, pull roe, separate and refine the meat and blend the additives that make surimi, test quality and moisture through each stage, grade roe for export to Japan and prepare samples for roe auctions, while training other processors and keeping equipment and spare parts in order. The role requires 24 months of surimi and pollock roe experience with verifiable work history and the ability to solve production problems on your own. Expect 12-hour days, seven days a week when fish are running, with a 35-hour weekly minimum. Pay runs $24.65 to $40.00 an hour based on experience, with overtime at $36.98 to $60.00, health insurance and a possible bonus, and room and board at or near the plant at no cost.
