Wildland Firefighter Temporary Aide – Module, Engine and Fuels Crews (2027 Season)

Colorado’s Division of Fire Prevention and Control is building its 2027 list of temporary wildland firefighters for suppression modules in Windsor, Black Hawk, Granby, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Cortez, an engine crew in Montrose, and a fuels module in Windsor. Crewmembers fight fire, work on prescribed burns and fuels reduction, and help with prevention and community outreach, with assignments of two weeks or more anywhere in Colorado or the country. The season is about eight months between March and November 2027, at least 40 hours a week with paid overtime, and school schedules may be accommodated. The only firm requirement is a current NWCG Firefighter Type 2 qualification, documented with your incident qualification record; the agency supplies training and most protective gear. The anticipated hiring rate is $22 to $25 an hour, and Colorado residents and non-residents may both apply. Apply on the State of Colorado jobs portal by November 2, 2026.
