Permanent full-time field technician job with WDFW’s Wildlife Program, based in Brewster and working the Douglas County Wildlife Area Complex in north-central Washington. The work is habitat restoration and maintenance across shrubsteppe, riparian and mesic ground: installing beaver dam analogs, post-assisted log structures and Zeedyk structures, carrying out an integrated pest management plan and applying herbicide to knock back invasive plants, and doing agricultural work such as mowing, disking, seeding and tree trimming. You also maintain the wildlife area’s roads, culverts, fences, gates, parking lots, kiosks, signage and irrigation systems, plus vehicles and equipment records. Expect chainsaws, brush cutters, ATVs, UTVs, tractors and excavators, rough uneven terrain, work in and near water, and all weather. A licensed spray operator performing spray duties earns an additional 10 percent pay differential.
