The CCC’s flagship five-month wilderness trail program places about 90 corpsmembers in remote camps in Yosemite, Sequoia-Kings Canyon, Inyo, Klamath and Shasta-Trinity national forests and Big Basin State Park, working from the last week of April to the last week of September. Crews live in the backcountry with resupply by mule or helicopter, get three meals a day during the work week and spend their days on trail construction and maintenance, camp chores and physical training. Applicants must be 18 to 25 (veterans up to 29), live in the U.S., and commit to the full season; no certifications are required. The stipend is $2,814 per month with $500 taken out for food. The 2026 window has closed and the program says applications for each season open in October and close in February, so the 2027 window should open within weeks; sign up on the program’s interest form to be notified.
