North Pacific Seafoods’ Kodiak plant, Alaska Pacific Seafoods, is hiring dock crew to unload fish from delivering vessels, sort product on conveyor lines, run dock machinery and back up the production floor. Shifts run up to 12 hours, seven days a week when boats are landing, and the company is candid that fishing schedules are unpredictable. Non-local hires can stay in the company bunkhouse for up to $15 a day, sleeping up to six to a room with a shared bathroom; meals are not currently provided and airfare is not mentioned. Wages follow a tiered scale with a raise at 500 hours, paid biweekly, but the posting gives no dollar figure. You must be 18, authorized to work in the US, able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly in cold, wet, loud conditions, and willing to submit to random drug testing (marijuana included).
