DIPAC, the nonprofit that runs Juneau’s Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, is hiring entry-level fish technicians for the 2027 season, January 19 through October 22. Techs help the permanent staff feed and sample fish, clean rearing containers, collect broodstock, look after incubators and process adult salmon. A background in natural resources or aquaculture is a plus, and you need to be fit enough to move 50 lbs repeatedly while working outside in cold, wet and sometimes dark conditions. Pay starts at $16 to $20 an hour DOE, and housing is included for applicants who don’t live in Juneau.
