Lodge staff jobs are the hospitality positions at seasonal and remote lodges: housekeeping, dining room, kitchen, front desk, retail and maintenance at national park lodges, fishing lodges and backcountry resorts. In national parks these are not federal jobs. Private concessioners run the lodges, and the National Park Service says concessioners employ more than 25,000 people during peak seasons.

More About Lodge Staff Jobs

National park lodge jobs are big seasonal hires. Yellowstone National Park Lodges says it hires about 3,500 people for a summer season running from April until the end of October, and about 400 for a winter season from December to early March. For $17 a day, its seasonal staff get a dorm-style room with Wi-Fi, laundry, utilities and all meals. Xanterra, which lists Yellowstone among its locations, says all of them have employee housing, most of it dorm rooms or shared cabins for 2 to 4 people, and that you must be 18 to live in employee housing.

Remote fishing lodges can pay more per month. Kingfisher Charters in Sitka, Alaska says housekeeping and serving staff can average $4,000 to $5,000 a month with overtime, tips and an end-of-season bonus, with free housing and meals, from May 15 to September 15. Katmailand, which runs Brooks Lodge, hires from late May through mid-September and provides accommodations and meals at no cost. For a year-round benchmark, the 2025 BLS median for maids and housekeeping cleaners was $17.07 an hour.

Apply in winter for summer lodge jobs. CoolWorks says January through March is the busiest recruiting window and that many summer employers hold a second round of hiring. Read national park lodge jobs, summer jobs in Alaska and seasonal jobs with housing.
