Entry-level interpretive and visitor services work at the Calaveras Big Trees State Park visitor center in the Sierra foothills, supervised by a State Park Interpreter. The aide answers public questions, staffs the visitor center, supports interpreters running educational and interpretive programs, keeps interpretive facilities clean and organized, and completes assigned projects. Two openings are advertised: one seasonal position working part-time through fall and winter, and one part-time year-round position. Work happens indoors and outdoors in all weather, requires long periods standing and a clear public-speaking voice, and availability on weekends, evenings and holidays. Hours are capped at 1,500 in twelve consecutive months. An approved uniform is worn and a background investigation must clear before appointment. State housing is not offered at this location.
