Sitka Sound Seafoods, North Pacific Seafoods’ year-round plant in Sitka, fills hourly processor positions from the local community as openings arise, with the heaviest work during the summer salmon peak. Processors offload boats, sort, butcher, clean, weigh, fillet, inspect and box fish, run machinery and forklifts, load freezers and vans, and sanitize work areas, on shifts of up to 12 hours, seven days a week in season. Pay is $17.00 an hour with overtime at $25.50 after eight hours in a day or 40 in a week under Alaska law, plus a raise at 500 hours. This posting is only for people already living in Sitka: no housing, meals or airfare are offered and you arrange your own way to the plant. Applicants must be 18, work-authorized, able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, and pass random drug screening; incomplete applications are discarded.
