The Oregon Department of Forestry is hiring a wildland fire supervisor for its Pendleton Unit in northeast Oregon. Working under the unit forester, this person runs the field side of the fire program: hiring, training and supervising fire crews, making sure fires are fought aggressively and investigated, enforcing state fire law, and managing burn permits and citations. The job also covers unit facilities and equipment and the federal excess property program that supplies rural fire districts in Umatilla County and parts of Morrow and Gilliam counties. Applicants need five years of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatch including a year leading others, or a forestry-related bachelor’s degree plus two years of that experience; some positions must pass the moderate work capacity test and earn a Class B warden certification. Pay is $5,371 to $7,911 a month, full-time. Apply on the State of Oregon Workday careers site with a cover letter and resume by October 25, 2026.
