A six-month career seasonal appointment at Goldendale Hatchery in Klickitat County, running October through March with WDFW’s Hatcheries Division. This is an in-training recruitment: candidates may be hired at the Fish Hatchery Specialist 1 level, paid $3,653 to $4,866 monthly, and trained up to Specialist 2 at $4,004 to $5,376 monthly. The specialist performs technical fish culture work across hatchery facilities and trap sites in the complex, rearing anadromous and inland species. Tasks include calculating and delivering feed, monitoring fish health and behavior, disinfecting and enumerating eggs, administering prescribed therapeutics, sorting and sampling adults for spawning and distribution, cleaning ponds, raceways and incubators, and recovering tags and marks for biological sampling. No additional housing is available and standby is not currently assigned.
