A permanent full-time hatchery position with WDFW’s Fish Program, Hatcheries Division, at Naselle River Hatchery in Pacific County on the southwest Washington coast. The Fish Hatchery Specialist 3 runs fish culture at the station and its trap sites: projecting growth and feed needs, doing inventories, splits, grading and weight samples, leading crew through feeding, cleaning and transfers, setting rearing densities, and coordinating on-station and off-site plants. You collect genetic and biological samples for lab analysis, run the fish traps and ladders, monitor water quality, and keep pumps, motors, generators, vehicles and grounds in working order using mowers, chainsaws, tractors and forklifts. It is a crew-leader role, so you plan daily and cyclic schedules and train lower-level staff and volunteers. No housing is provided and standby is not currently assigned. WDFW reopened this recruitment to widen the applicant pool.
