Denali National Park is hiring six GS-7 seasonal mountaineering rangers based in Talkeetna, Alaska. Rangers lead high-altitude patrols on Denali and elsewhere in the Alaska Range with trained volunteers, typically on 21-day trips more than once a season, and run or direct technical rescues involving emergency medical care and helicopter and fixed-wing support. Ground patrols can mean backpacking, skiing, snow machine or dog sled in winter and packrafts or rafts in summer. In town they staff the Talkeetna contact station, brief climbers, issue permits, write patrol and accident reports and work with guide concessions. The job is a temporary appointment of up to 1,039 hours with on-call, evening, weekend and holiday work. Pay is $27.54 to $35.54 an hour plus a 3% Alaska cost-of-living allowance, and the posting says government housing is available. Apply on USAJOBS by 10/26/2026 with all required documents.
