Stream Restoration Felling & Rigging – AmeriCorps Assistant Crew Leader (2027)

This is the second-in-command spot on SECC’s winter-spring 2027 felling and rigging crew, which camps in the Cherokee National Forest and places trees into streams to improve fish habitat. It is a 450-hour AmeriCorps term from January 18 to April 30, 2027 and comes with a two-week orientation that includes USFS chainsaw certification, rigging instruction and Wilderness First Aid. You need to be 18 to 30 (up to 35 for veterans), have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have some experience leading youth or young adults; prior chainsaw or rigging work is a strong plus. The package is a $480 weekly living allowance, an extra $170 a week, a $1,956.35 education award, and food and transport on hitch. Off-hitch housing isn’t provided.
