A trail and roads crew position based at the Monterey District trails headquarters at Ixshenta State Park, the former Point Lobos Ranch property in Carmel, across from Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Reporting to the District Roads and Trails Maintenance Supervisor, the aide works trail and heavy equipment projects across the district and gives daily support to contracted youth corps crews carrying out trail and road construction, maintenance and resource work. Expect heavy manual labor, long approaches on foot, remote worksites, hot summers and cold rainy winters on the coast. Standard hours are seven in the morning to half past five over four days a week, but nights, weekends, odd hours and overtime are required, along with eight to ten day assignments, overnight travel and spike camping at worksites statewide.
